The ŠKODA Rapid Spaceback, which will sit between the Fabia and the larger Octavia, offers a lot of space, numerous ‘Simply Clever’ ideas, top safety, interesting opportunities for individualization, low fuel consumption and an excellent price/value ratio. The Rapid Spaceback will celebrate its premiere at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show in September, its European launch in October 2013 and Australians will see it next year.
As the slogan says, there is no shortage of clever little ideas, like the optional double cargo floor in the rear permitting the boot to be divided into two horizontal levels providing double utility, the boot volumes are among the best measuring 415 litres or 1,380 litres when the rear bench is folded down. It also has a waste bin in the side door, parking ticket holder, cup holders in the front and rear and the ice scraper in the fuel filler flap.
The interior of the new Rapid Spaceback impresses with sporty three-spoke steering wheels, stylish trim lines and fresh designs for the seat covers. It also offers a lot of space, with the rear offering the largest legroom and the largest headroom in its segment.
The new ŠKODA Rapid Spaceback offers the high safety that has come to be expected of ŠKODA. In particular, it includes front, side and head airbags, height-adjustable three-point safety belts with pre-tensioners and height-adjustable head restraints, xenon headlights, tire pressure control, fog-lights with corner function and hill-hold control assistant.
While specifications of the Australian line-up are yet to be confirmed, it is expected that two turbocharged petrol engines and one diesel will be available from launch.
More details are likely after the Rapid Spaceback makes its debut in Frankfurt.
